The media can too frequently provide accounts of athletes who have made poor choices. Drug use, family violence, even homicide are among the many ways athletes have discredited themselves. In this world in which young people readily look to high-profile athletes as role models, society needs to hear more about those who contribute productively to our world.
Morris County’s Chapter of the National Football Foundation is proud to offer the Scholar-Athlete Award as a way in which we can hold up values of academic excellence, athletic achievement, and community service, thus celebrating effective football programs, model coaches, and the high school athletes who thrive within them.
